MRI Finance Enterprise Consultancy Package – OpenAccounts VAT and Making Tax Digital (MTD) Review

This consultancy package is aimed at companies who have been using MRI Finance Enterprise (OpenAccounts) for some time and wish to undertake a review of the system in relation to VAT and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and compliance. Ad-hoc advice will be given for quick wins, and further recommendations for more wide-reaching benefits will made upon completion of the review. 


The operational review of VAT should identify aspects of MRI Finance Enterprise (OpenAccounts) which are not being used as efficiently as possible, identify knowledge gaps and provide an insight into whether the current configuration suits the business requirements of today and VAT Compliance.  MRI will report on the findings based on the following:

  • Review the current processes for recording VAT Transactions on OpenAccounts.
  • Review adjustments required.
  • Review / Demonstrate MRI's bespoke VAT Analysis Report.
  • Discuss options for changing the process of recording transactions to bring all VAT Transactions into OA at source.
  • Discuss options for handling complex VAT adjustment scenarios (if any). Assist with set up changes in a Test environment to prove concept of any discussed changes.
  • Train users for any change of processes required to accommodate improvements.
  • Assist with set up changes in the Live system following testing.

The consultant and client will, prior to the consultancy, agree details of the session, confirm start and finish times and any prerequisites. Maximum of 6 people in total.

  • Attendees familiar with OpenAccounts basics.
  • Person(s) who are responsible for:  Vat Returns and reconciliations.
  • Person(s) who have sufficient understanding of the current and future business needs of the organisation to enable decisions relating to parameter.
  • Client to provide access to relevant systems.

This consultancy package includes:

  • Initial meeting to discuss high-level objectives including any areas of concern.
  • Review all existing systems to determine improvement.
  • Provide a document confirming current configuration and outlining go-forward recommendations.
