Revenues & Benefits: Database Mergers - Consultancy

Key Project Stages

  1. Pre-Merge: Aligning the System Start Date and the Reference ranges to standardize dates and reference ranges for key identifiers across all databases preventing overlaps and ensuring references are unique after the process.
  2. Merge
    • Parameter Mapping: Identify and map parameters from the existing databases to the corresponding parameters in the new unitary authority database.
    • Parameter Alignment: Align parameters to ensure consistency and compatibility across all merged databases.
    • Database Merge: Execute the merging of databases, integrating data from individual authority databases into the new unitary authority database.
  3. Post-Merge: Verify that all data has been successfully merged and that the new unitary authority database functions correctly. Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure no critical data has been inadvertently affected. Monitor the system post-merge to identify and resolve any issues. Provide ongoing support to address any queries or problems related to the merged data.

Key Considerations

  • System Start Date (SSD) Determination: The customer needs to decide on SSD for consistency and ease of validation and reconciliation.
  • Interfaces and Integration: Potential impact to interface and integration because of reference changes and data merge.
  • Data Security: Ensure that all data transfer and merge processes comply with data protection regulations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear communication with stakeholders throughout the cleansing process.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Support: Provide ongoing support to address any queries or problems related to the migrated data.
